Illinois Watch Co. 12 Size 17 Jewel Pocket Watch Movement and Dial - This lot features an antique pocket watch movement and dial assembly produced by the Illinois Watch Co. of Springfield, Illinois. The mechanical, manual-wind movement is finished in nickel with elaborate decorative damaskeening and is marked with serial number 2296974, along with ”ILLINOIS WATCH CO. SPRINGFIELD” and ”17 JEWELS.” The assembly includes a bi-metallic compensation balance and a regulator marked ”F” and ”S.” The white porcelain enamel dial displays stylized black Arabic numerals for hours and red Arabic numerals at five-minute intervals, with a sunken sub-seconds dial positioned at 6 o'clock. The dial is signed ”Illinois” in script below the 12 o'clock marker. Included is a set of blued steel hands consisting of a spade-style hour hand and a whip-style minute hand. Diameter: 1 5/8 inches (approximately 41mm). The porcelain dial exhibits several visible hairline cracks (crazing), most prominent between the 4 and 5 o'clock positions. The item is an uncased movement and dial assembly, lacking the original case, crystal, and winding crown. The movement appears clean, though mechanical working order is not tested.
