Waltham Model 1908 Grade 1617 17 Jewel Art Deco Pocket Watch Movement and Dial - A vintage American pocket watch movement and dial assembly produced by Waltham. This is a Model 1908, Grade 1617, 16-size manual wind movement featuring 17 jewels. The nickel-finished movement plates exhibit decorative geometric damaskeening and are engraved with the script name Waltham, 17 JEWELS, and U.S.A. A separate plate is stamped with the serial number 28854211, dating the production to approximately 1935. The movement includes a micrometric regulator with a scale marked F and S. The two-tone silvered metal dial features an Art Deco design with a central vertical tapestry engine-turned pattern and a matte outer chapter ring. It is set with applied gold-tone stylized Arabic numeral hour markers and includes a recessed subsidiary seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position. The dial is signed WALTHAM in a central rectangular cartouche and is fitted with rose gold-tone skeletonized hands. This lot consists of the movement and dial assembly only; no case is included. Dial diameter: 1.75 inches. The dial shows minor surface wear and light age-related marks. The hands exhibit visible surface oxidation. The movement appears clean and mechanically complete with no missing major components visible. The mechanical working status has not been tested.
