Vintage Germany U.S. Zone Iridescent Lava Glass and Faux Dragon Breath Opal Brooch - This vintage bar-style brooch is constructed from gold-tone base metal and features a combination of art glass and faux opal stones. The design is centered around two large circular art glass cabochons with a textured, crinkled surface and a vibrant iridescent finish, commonly referred to as lava glass or volcano glass. These stones exhibit a shifting color spectrum of green, purple, blue, and gold. Separating these cabochons is a central vertical arrangement of six faux opal glass stones, known in costume jewelry terminology as dragon breath glass. The grouping includes four faceted central stones and two smooth cabochons at the top and bottom, all displaying milky white bases with internal flashes of orange and pink. The stones are secured in multi-prong settings, with the larger cabochons surrounded by decorative milgrain-style borders. The reverse features a raised oval cartouche stamped with the mark GERMANY U.S. ZONE, dating the piece to the post-WWII occupation period between 1945 and 1949. The brooch is equipped with a long pin stem and a rolling safety C-clasp. Length: Approximately 1.75 inches (4.5 cm).
