Bidspirit auction | A Pair of Vintage Japanese

A Pair of Vintage Japanese Style Hand-Painted Bone and Silver Filigree Earrings - A pair of vintage screw-back earrings featuring rectangular panels of hand-painted natural organic material, likely bone. Each panel depicts a miniature scene of a female figure in a kimono, possibly a geisha, walking through a landscape of tall grasses. The panels are set within ornate silver-tone metal frames featuring intricate filigree wirework, granulation, and a decorative bow motif at the top. The reverse of each earring is finished with a fine wire mesh screen. The screw-back findings are typical of jewelry produced in the early to mid-20th century. While the figural motifs are Japanese in style, the silver filigree construction is characteristic of East Asian export jewelry from the 1920-1940 period. No maker marks or metal purity hallmarks are visible on the pieces. Height: 1 inch Width: 5/8 inch.
