Antique Wightman and Hough Co. Gold Filled Engraved Paste Set Photo Locket - A circular Edwardian-era photo locket manufactured by Wightman and Hough Co. The pendant is constructed from gold-filled metal and features a hinged opening. The front cover is intricately engraved with a central five-petaled flower enclosed within a beaded oval frame, surrounded by foliate and floral scrollwork. Seven small, clear, faceted paste stones are grain-set into the floral accents on the front. The background of the front cover has a textured matte finish, while the reverse is plain with a polished surface. The interior opens to reveal two oval-framed period photographs: one of a young woman with a hair bow and one of a young man in a suit. The interior rim is incised with the patent date PAT FEB 10-03 and a partial maker mark for W and H CO. The locket is suspended from a circular jump ring bail. Diameter: 1 1/8 inches (28.5 mm) excluding bail. Overall good antique condition. The gold-filled surface shows fine scratches and minor thinning to the finish consistent with age and use. All seven paste stones are present but exhibit some internal darkening and facet wear. The interior frames show light oxidation and surface wear. The hinge and clasp are in good working order, closing securely with a tight fit. The photographs remain well-preserved with typical age-related sepia toning.
