US 1878 Morgan Silver Dollar, 7 Tail Feathers Variety - One US 1878 Morgan Silver Dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint. This specimen is the 7 tail feathers variety featuring the Reverse of 1878 design, identified by the slanted top arrow feather and flat eagle breast. The obverse depicts the Liberty head profile designed by George T. Morgan, inscribed with the date 1878 and surrounded by thirteen stars. The reverse features a heraldic eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows within a wreath, with the motto In God We trust in Gothic script and the denomination One Dollar. The coin is composed of 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper. It is housed in a clear plastic coin holder. Diameter: 38.1 mm. Uncirculated. The coin retains original mint luster with minor surface contact marks and bag marks. Light wear is visible on the high points of the hair above the ear and on the eagle's breast feathers. Faint golden toning is present near the rims on both sides.
