Vintage 1897 United States Morgan Silver Dollar Bolo Tie - This Western-style bolo tie features an authentic 1897 United States Morgan Silver Dollar as the central slide. The silver coin is mounted in a silver-toned metal bezel characterized by a beaded edge and secured with four prongs. The cord is constructed of four-strand braided leather in two-tone tan and dark brown. The tie is finished with silver-toned metal tips decorated with embossed scrollwork and spherical ball finials. The obverse of the coin displays the inscriptions E PLURIBUS UNUM and LIBERTY on the coronet, with the date 1897 at the bottom. The reverse of the slide and the tips do not show any visible maker's marks or silver hallmarks. Length: 16.5 inches. Good vintage condition. Significant dark tarnish and patina are present on the silver dollar and metal components, consistent with age. The braided leather cord remains supple and intact with minimal signs of wear.
