A Pair of US Silver Barber Half Dollars, 1906 and 1908-D - This lot comprises a pair of US Barber Half Dollars dated 1906 and 1908. Both coins are struck in 90% silver and 10% copper. The first coin is a 1908-D, featuring a Denver Mint mark located on the reverse below the eagle's tail. The second coin is a 1906 issue from the Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark). The obverse of each coin displays the Barber design featuring a right-facing bust of Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap and laurel wreath, with the motto IN GOD WE TRUST above and the date below. The reverse features a heraldic eagle with a shield, clutching an olive branch and arrows, surrounded by the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination HALF DOLLAR. Both coins are housed in cardboard 2x2 flips with handwritten collector notes, including dates and price notations. Diameter: 30.6 mm Weight: 12.5 grams (each, standard). Both coins show heavy circulation wear consistent with grades of Good to About Good. Liberty's head and the laurel wreath exhibit significant flattening, and the legend is worn but readable. The reverse designs show overall wear with flattened eagle feathers and shield details. Both coins display characteristic gray silver toning with minor surface marks and scratches consistent with age and use. The cardboard flips show moderate wear and ink markings.
