US 1857-1909 Cent Collection, Copper-Nickel and Bronze - A collection of United States small cents featuring the Flying Eagle and Indian Head types, housed in a vintage blue Whitman Coin Folder No. 9003. The assortment includes Flying Eagle cents struck in copper-nickel for the years 1857 and 1858 (Small Letters). The Indian Head cent portion includes copper-nickel issues from 1859 through 1864, and bronze issues from 1864 through 1909. This is a partially complete set with several key and semi-key date slots vacant, including the 1856 Flying Eagle, 1858 Large Letters, 1864-L, 1871, 1872, 1877, 1908-S, and 1909-S. The coins are mounted for obverse display only. The album is a three-panel cardboard folder with printed dates and mintage figures for each slot. The coins display a range of circulated conditions, primarily grading from Good to Fine, with some later 20th-century examples approaching Very Fine. Typical wear includes flattened legends, worn headdress details, and varying degrees of toning. Some bronze issues exhibit environmental spotting, surface oxidation, or light verdigris, particularly evident on the 1886 specimen. The Whitman cardboard album shows moderate wear, including fraying at the corners, spine stress, and light surface soiling.
