Minerva Gold-Filled Sweetheart Expansion Bracelet in Original Presentation Box, Patented 1905 - This antique expansion bracelet is produced under the brand name Minerva and is accompanied by its original cardboard retail box. The bracelet features an internal spring expansion mechanism composed of interlocking S-curve links with ornate scrollwork. The center of the bracelet is a circular medallion with a textured foliate border and a central polished plaque hand-engraved with the cursive initial M. The reverse of the central medallion is stamped with the manufacturer name MINERVA and the patent date PATENTED FEB 7 1905. The original presentation box features the Minerva trade mark on the lid and an interior lid print depicting a portrait of a woman with text identifying Fontneau and Cook Co. of Attleboro, Massachusetts, as the sole sales agents. The interior of the box features a purple velvet-lined insert. Medallion diameter: 1 inch Band width: 0.75 inches Unstretched interior diameter: 2 inches. The bracelet is in good antique condition with light surface scratches and minor wear to the gold finish on high-relief areas consistent with age. The expansion mechanism remains fully functional. The original cardboard box shows significant age-related wear, including surface staining, edge scuffing, and tears to the paper covering on the lid and base. The purple velvet interior shows light fading and wear.
