US 1878-S Morgan Silver Dollar, 7 Tail Feathers - A United States 1878-S Morgan silver dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint. The coin is composed of 90% silver and 10% copper. The obverse features the Liberty head design with the date 1878 and the legend E PLURIBUS UNUM. The reverse displays the eagle design within a laurel wreath, featuring seven tail feathers and a parallel top arrow feather, identifying it as the Reverse of 1879 variety. An S mint mark is positioned on the reverse, centered above the letters DO in DOLLAR. The coin is housed in a cardboard flip holder with handwritten identifying information. Uncirculated. The coin retains original mint luster with some scattered surface contact marks and bag marks, primarily on the cheek and in the obverse fields. Minor dark debris or light toning is visible near the rims on both sides. No evidence of major damage, cleaning, or significant wear is apparent.
