US Double Minted Collection of Coins in Presentation Case - A collection of US coins featuring design transitions for three different denominations, housed in a clear plastic display case with a blue graphic insert. The set contains coins from 1909, 1916, and 1938, years in which two different designs were minted for the same denomination. The collection includes a 1909 Indian Head cent and a 1909 Lincoln Wheat cent; a 1938 Buffalo nickel and a 1938 Jefferson nickel; and a 1916 Barber dime and a 1916 Mercury (Winged Liberty Head) dime. The cents are composed of bronze, the five-cent pieces are copper-nickel, and the dimes are struck in 90 percent silver (.900 fine). The obverse and reverse designs represent the standard types for each respective series. The presentation holder features a patriotic eagle and stripe motif on the front and explanatory text on the reverse with the mark ©1993 SSCA - New York. Length: 165 mm. The coins exhibit varying degrees of circulation wear ranging from good to very fine. The 1909 cents show heavy surface wear and smoothed details. The 1916 dimes show significant dark toning and oxidation consistent with long-term storage. The nickels show moderate wear on the high points. The plastic presentation case displays numerous surface scratches, scuffs, and abrasions consistent with age.
