Circa 1900-1920 Vintage Enamel and Gold-Tone Moving Monkey on a Pole Bar Brooch - This vintage novelty bar brooch features a stylized monkey climbing a vertical pole, a design characteristic of late Victorian and Edwardian kinetic jewelry. The monkey figure is crafted with a textured surface to simulate fur and is accented with a red enameled jacket and two small green eye details. The monkey is mounted to a silver-tone vertical bar via two rings, allowing it to slide up and down. A yellow gold-tone safety chain is attached to the top of the bar and terminates in a small, textured metal sphere. The reverse side features a vertical hinged pin stem that secures into a simple open C-clasp. No hallmarks, maker marks, or metal purity stamps are visible on the item. Vertical bar length: 3 inches Overall length including chain: 4.5 inches. The brooch shows signs of significant age and wear. There is noticeable chipping and loss to the red enamel on the monkey’s jacket. The metal surfaces exhibit a darkened patina, minor oxidation, and surface scratches. The green eye accents are intact but appear dull. The pin mechanism is functional, although the stem shows slight bending.
