1826, 1833, 1851, and 1830s, A Collection of US Copper Large Cents, Matron Head and Braided Hair Varieties - A collection of US Mint copper Large Cents comprising Matron Head and Braided Hair types struck in copper. Dates identified include 1826, 1833, and two specimens of 1851, with one additional heavily worn specimen appearing to be from the 1830s. The obverse of each coin depicts a left-facing profile of Liberty wearing a coronet inscribed LIBERTY, surrounded by thirteen six-pointed stars and the date below. The reverse features the denomination ONE CENT within a circular laurel wreath, encircled by the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. These coins were produced by the US Mint before the transition to the smaller-diameter cent in 1857. Diameter: 28 mm - 29 mm. Specimens are in circulated condition, ranging from about good to fine. Observations include significant surface wear, pitting, areas of green verdigris corrosion on the 1833 coin, and a notable rim indentation or clip on one of the 1851 specimens. The 1830s specimen exhibits heavy wear with an obscured date.
