A Collection of Six Silver Age DC Comics Including Showcase 39 and House of Mystery - This collection of six Silver Age comic books was published by National Comics Publications, Inc., under the DC Comics brand, between 1961 and 1962. The group features titles from DC's mystery and science fiction anthology lines. The issues included are House of Mystery number 113 (August 1961) featuring Prisoners of Beast Asteroid; House of Mystery number 114 (September 1961) featuring The Movies from Nowhere; and House of Mystery number 118 (January 1962) featuring Secret of the Super-Gorillas. Also present is House of Secrets number 48 (September 1961) featuring a Mark Merlin mystery, Beware the Guardian Beast. The collection highlights Showcase presents Metal Men number 39 (August 1962), marking the third appearance of the Metal Men characters. Rounding out the lot is Strange Adventures number 131 (August 1961) featuring Star Hawkins in Emperor of the Earth. These issues are standard format anthology books and include cover artwork attributed to Bob Brown, Bill Ely, Murphy Anderson, Ross Andru, and Mike Esposito. The comic books in this lot are in raw, ungraded condition, generally ranging from low to mid-grade. Common defects include spine stress, rolling, edge chipping, corner creases, and general age-related wear. House of Mystery number 113 has a name, Ronald Lewis, written in blue ink on the front cover. Several books in the collection exhibit three-ring punch holes on the interior pages, notably issue number 114, which shows holes near the spine. Paper yellowing and minor staining consistent with age are present across all titles.
