A Trio of Vintage American Railroad and Industrial Portable Lighting Devices - This lot features three vintage portable lighting devices of American manufacture. The first is an Oxweld No. 2155 carbide railroad lamp constructed of silver-toned metal with a parabolic reflector and a bracket handle featuring a wooden grip. The top is fitted with a brass plate embossed Patent No 1609903, Oxweld, Railroad Lamp, No 2155. The handle bracket is stamped with the serial number 53025. The second item is a Federal Safety First electric lantern, Catalog No. 804, manufactured by the Federal Sign System (Electric) of Chicago. It consists of a brass-toned cylindrical battery housing with a hinged lid, a black rubber-coated wire handle, and a wire cage base protecting the bottom-mounted light source. The lid is embossed with manufacturer information and a patent date of February 24, 1914. An original paper instructional label is present inside the lid. The third item is an Eveready Art Deco pocket flashlight made of brass-toned metal with vertical ribbing. It is embossed Eveready and Made in USA. It features a circular glass lens and a hinged wire handle that doubles as a stand. The interior contains a phenolic insulation plate. All items show signs of age and industrial use. The Oxweld carbide lamp exhibits surface oxidation, pitting, and accumulated grime. The Federal lantern shows significant surface wear, oxidation, and finish loss throughout the body, with light rust on the wire base. The Eveready flashlight has moderate surface wear and oxidation consistent with its age. All glass lenses are intact with minor surface scratches.
