American Commemorative Class or Fraternal Service Banner Dated 1913 - An early 20th-century American commemorative textile banner, constructed from red and white fabric bunting with a white canvas header and two brass grommets for vertical hanging. The design consists of three vertical panels: two red outer panels and a central white panel. The central panel features five appliqued five-pointed stars; the uppermost star is made of a dark gray or black fabric, while the four stars below are made of tan or khaki-colored fabric arranged in two rows of two. Below the central panel, the red field features large, white appliqued numerals forming the year 1913. The construction style, star configuration, and block font are characteristic of collegiate or fraternal class flags and early precursors to the American military service flag tradition. Length: 35.5 inches Width: 23.5 inches. Fair to poor condition. The central white panel exhibits significant moth damage and environmental rot, resulting in large holes and loss of fabric, particularly affecting the lower four stars. The red panels show scattered smaller holes and general age-related wear. Localized staining and overall discoloration are present throughout. The canvas header and brass grommets remain structurally sound.
