Antique American Tinned Sheet Iron Eight-Tube Candle Mold - An antique American primitive candle mold constructed of seamed and soldered tinned sheet iron. The piece features eight tapered cylindrical tubes arranged in two rows of four, mounted between a shallow rectangular top pouring tray and a supporting base plate. The top tray is designed for the even distribution of melted wax or tallow into the tubes. Each tube tapers to a small aperture at the bottom to accommodate a wick. A vertical strap-style handle is soldered to one side of the frame. No maker marks or inscriptions are visible on the object. Height: 10.5 inches Base: 5.25 x 3 inches. The item is in well-used antique condition with a heavy, dark patina consistent with age. There is significant oxidation, surface rust, and pitting throughout the metal. The edges of both the top pouring tray and the bottom base plate are bent and irregular. Minor denting is present on several of the tubes.
