Vintage American Cotton Scrap Quilt in Ocean Waves Pattern - A vintage American pieced scrap quilt featuring a variation of the Ocean Waves pattern. The piece is constructed from a diverse assortment of cotton print and solid fabrics, including calicoes, ginghams, stripes, and checks. The color palette primarily consists of chocolate brown, navy blue, red, pink, and ochre. The composition is organized into twelve large blocks, each featuring a central off-white diamond-on-point print surrounded by a dense arrangement of small triangles that create the characteristic wave pattern. A single-row sawtooth or wild goose chase border of multi-colored triangles frames the central design. The reverse side is finished with a single cotton fabric featuring a repeating small pink tulip and green stem motif on a white ground. Small black ink marks in the form of a pound symbol are visible on several of the central off-white diamond sections. Length: 85 inches Width: 67 inches. The quilt is in good vintage condition showing signs of age and domestic use. There is light scattered staining and foxing throughout, which is most prominent on the off-white center diamonds and the reverse backing fabric. General light surface wear is present on the fabric and along the edges. The binding is intact.
