A Collection of North African and Middle Eastern Daggers including Moroccan Koummiya and Sudanese Telek Styles - An assortment of traditional curved daggers featuring examples of North African and Middle Eastern craftsmanship. The collection includes a Moroccan Koummiya style dagger with a silver-toned metal hilt and scabbard, decorated with hand-engraved scrolling foliate patterns and a characteristic flared peacock-tail pommel. A smaller curved dagger, identified as a Shibriya, features bone or ivory grip scales secured to a brass frame, paired with a brass repoussé scabbard depicting a central figure in traditional costume and panels containing Arabic script; the curved steel blade is stamped with crescent moon and star symbols. Also included is a Sudanese Telek or arm dagger with a broad, curved steel blade featuring stippled decoration and a carved dark wood hilt inlaid with brass and white-metal sunburst patterns. The final item is a large curved dagger in the Tuareg or Berber style, featuring a dark wood hilt with a peaked brass pommel cap and a scabbard clad in alternating yellow and white metal sections with repeating geometric diamond and zig-zag repoussé patterns. Item 4 total length: approximately 16 inches Item 2 total length: approximately 10 inches. The collection is in aged, fair to poor condition. All steel blades exhibit significant surface oxidation, heavy rust, and pitting. The Moroccan Koummiya shows an aged patina and moderate wear to the engraved details. The bone or ivory hilt scales on the Shibriya show minor cracks and yellowing; the scabbard has small dents and a dark patina. The Sudanese Telek scabbard is severely deteriorated, with the original leather covering largely missing and the remaining material brittle and peeling. The larger Tuareg style dagger shows surface cracking to the wooden hilt and several dents to the metal scabbard cladding.
