Adams and Westlake Adlake No. 200 Kero Lehigh Valley Railroad Lantern - An antique railroad kerosene lantern manufactured by The Adams and Westlake Co., designated as the Adlake No. 200 Kero model. This lantern was utilized by the Lehigh Valley Railroad, as indicated by the L. V. R. R. embossing present on both the metal top cap and the clear glass globe. The top cap is marked with the manufacturer name, New York - Chicago - Phila branch locations, and a series of patent dates ranging from 1908 to 1912. The clear glass globe features embossed text reading ADLAKE - KERO and a trademark C within a circle. The internal fuel font is stamped USE KEROSENE OIL ONLY and is fitted with a burner marked NO. 250. The lantern is constructed with a metal frame, a protective wire-guard cage, and a tall bail handle. Height: 9.5 inches Height with handle raised: 15 inches Base diameter: 6 inches. The lantern exhibits a heavy, darkened patina and significant surface oxidation and rust, particularly concentrated on the top cap, handle, and wire-guard components. The metal shows wear consistent with age and field use in a railroad environment. The glass globe appears to be in good condition without visible cracks or major chips, showing only minor surface abrasions. The internal burner and wick are present but have not been tested for operation.
