Swiss Model 1914 Pioneer Sawback Bayonet by Waffenfabrik Neuhausen with Scabbard - This Swiss Model 1914 Pioneer sawback bayonet was manufactured by Waffenfabrik Neuhausen (SIG) for use with the Schmidt-Rubin Model 1911 Carbine and the Model 1931 (K31) Short Rifle. The weapon features a long single-edged steel blade with a deep fuller and a double-row sawback consisting of 39 teeth along the spine. The hilt is constructed with a steel crossguard featuring a muzzle ring, a bird's-head pommel with a functional push-button release, and two contoured wood grip scales secured by two rivets. The ricasso is stamped with the maker's mark WAFFENFABRIK NEUHAUSEN in an arch. The crossguard is stamped with the serial number 796194. A Swiss military inspection mark consisting of a cross within a circle is present on the pommel. It is accompanied by its original steel scabbard with a black-painted finish and a leather tab at the throat. Total Length: Approximately 24 inches Blade Length: Approximately 19 inches. The bayonet is in overall good, service-used condition. The blade retains much of its original bright finish with scattered areas of light surface oxidation and minor spotting, particularly within the fuller. The saw teeth remain well-defined and sharp. The steel crossguard and pommel exhibit a dark, aged patina with surface oxidation and light pitting. The wood grip scales are intact and solid, showing typical field wear including various small indentations and scratches. The locking mechanism is present and functional. The steel scabbard shows significant age-related wear, including finish loss, surface oxidation, and light pitting throughout the body. The leather attachment at the throat is present but shows drying and cracking consistent with age.
