Antique E. Ingraham Co. Victorian Black Architectural Mantel Clock with Cherub Decoration - An antique architectural mantel clock manufactured by the E. Ingraham Company of Bristol, Connecticut. The case is constructed of black-finished wood, featuring an enameled or celluloid surface. It is designed in a Victorian style with faux-marbled red and white decorative molding along the top and base. The facade is accented with four inset rectangular pillars depicting transfer-printed cherubs or putti against a pink-blushed background. The black case is further embellished with gilt-incised scrollwork. Ornate cast metal handles are mounted to the sides, and the entire structure rests on four decorative metal scroll-form feet. The circular gilt metal dial features an elaborate open-work filigree center, black Arabic numerals, and scrolled hands, protected by a brass bezel with glass cover. The base of the dial is marked Manufactured by the E. Ingraham Co., Bristol, Conn. U.S.A. The mechanical eight-day spring-driven movement is visible through a rear access door and includes two large mainsprings and a bell strike mechanism. The back of the wooden case displays various handwritten pencil markings including 250316 S and 18/0/8. A pendulum is present. Height: 10.75 inches, Width: 15.5 inches. The case displays age-consistent wear, including scuffing and minor finish loss on the top surface and edges. The rear access door is present but the latch is missing. The clock includes a pendulum. The movement appears complete but is currently untested for functionality.
