Lidded Beer Stein with Hand Painted Monk Tavern Scene - This lidded beer stein features a hand painted wrap-around tavern scene. The exterior is decorated with a colorful illustrative scene depicting monks in brown habits socializing in a cellar or tavern. Figures are shown drinking from steins and pouring from a blue-and-white pitcher, with large wooden barrels and a server in green and red clothing also visible. The artistic style is characteristic of German tavern illustrations from the late 19th to early 20th century. A signature for the artist, MAR, is located near the bottom edge of the decorative scene. The base of the stein bears a vertical ink stamp reading Made in Germany, accompanied by the numerical mark 3344 and the letter L.
