Alfonsas Dargis, Abstract Composition, 1952, Etching and Aquatint - This mid-century modern abstract intaglio print is by the Lithuanian-American artist Alfonsas Dargis (1909–1996). Dated 1952, the work is a combination of etching and aquatint, featuring a centralized arrangement of geometric and organic shapes punctuated by symbolic motifs such as stars and ladder-like patterns. The print shows strong impression quality with deep black tones and a textured, grainy character in the tonal areas. A clear rectangular plate mark is visible around the image. The piece is pencil-signed Alf Dargis 1952 in the lower right margin and numbered 8/45 in the lower left margin, indicating it is from a limited edition of forty-five.
