Manhattan Brass Co. 1876 Double Student Kerosene Lamp Tiffany & Co. - A Victorian-era brass double student kerosene table lamp manufactured by the Manhattan Brass Company of New York. The lamp features a height-adjustable central frame and a cylindrical fuel reservoir with a prominent iridescent, oil-slick patina. The twin arms support original burners, each incised around the collar with MANHATTAN BRASS CO N.Y. — PAT'D MAY 23 76. The burners are fitted with matching cased glass shades decorated with a green Greek key pattern over a frosted, textured background. Each burner is topped with a clear glass chimney. This specific base design is notable as Tiffany and Co. used the same base for several of their lamp designs. The lamp remains in its original kerosene configuration and has not been electrified, retaining its original wick mechanisms. Height: 26 inches Width: 20 inches Base Diameter: 7.5 inches. The lamp exhibits significant condition issues to the glass components. One cased glass shade has a large horizontal crack and a missing chip near the lower rim. The second shade shows multiple hairline cracks and stress fractures throughout. One of the clear glass chimneys is chipped at the top rim. The brass frame and reservoir show an age-appropriate patina with minor surface oxidation and wear. The iridescent finish on the central reservoir remains largely intact. All adjustment knobs and burner mechanisms are present; however, the lamp is sold as-found and functionality for kerosene use has not been tested.
