Bidspirit auction | A Collection of US Eisenhower
A Collection of US Eisenhower Dollars, 1971-1976 - A collection of US Eisenhower Dollars featuring specimens from the early 1970s and the Bicentennial era. The group includes a 1971-S issue, a 1972-S issue, and two dual-dated 1776-1976 Bicentennial issues. Each coin is housed in an individual plastic holder with handwritten identification labels. The obverses depict the profile portrait of Dwight D. Eisenhower with an S mint mark visible on three specimens, indicating production at the San Francisco Mint. The reverses feature two distinct designs: the eagle landing on the moon and the Liberty Bell superimposed against the moon. The coins are struck in either copper-nickel clad or 40% silver clad composition. One holder incorrectly identifies a Bicentennial dollar as a half dollar. Diameter: 38.1 mm. The coins display characteristics of uncirculated or proof strikes with brilliant luster. Several specimens show significant surface haze and light golden-to-gray atmospheric toning. Minor contact marks and light handling wear are visible on the fields and relief. The coins have not been professionally graded by a third-party service.
