A Collection of US Five-Cent Coins American Nickel Coin Collection - American Nickel Coin Collection issued by UPM in 1993. This collection of United States five-cent coins is housed in a clear plastic display case with a printed decorative insert. The collection includes a 1912 Liberty Head nickel, an Indian Head nickel with a worn and illegible date, a 1964 Jefferson nickel, and a 1943 wartime silver-composition Jefferson nickel. The 1943 specimen is struck in a 35 percent silver alloy identified by a large P mint mark above the dome of Monticello on the reverse. The other coins in the group are standard cupronickel issues. The reverse of the insert is marked 1601 and © UPM, 1993. These silver-alloy nickels were struck between 1942 and 1945 to reserve nickel for industrial use during World War II. Diameter: 21.2 mm (standard US nickel). The coins exhibit various states of circulation wear consistent with their age. The Liberty Head and Indian Head nickels show significant surface smoothing, with the date on the Indian Head nickel being illegible. The Jefferson nickels show moderate circulation wear and scattered contact marks. No professional third-party grading is associated with this collection.
