Bidspirit auction | A Pair of Taxco Mexican

A Pair of Taxco Mexican Sterling Silver and Turquoise Stud Earrings - This matched pair of stud earrings is constructed from sterling silver and features two inset turquoise cabochons. Each earring contains an oval-shaped turquoise stone with a vibrant sky-blue color; one stone exhibits fine dark matrix lines. The gemstones are secured in rounded, ”puffy” bezel settings, reflecting a modernist design characteristic of late 20th-century Mexican jewelry. The earrings are designed for pierced ears with post backings. The reverse of each earring is stamped with hallmarks. One earring is marked 925, MEXICO, and LI-21. The other earring is marked TZ-1, MEXICO, and 925. These marks are consistent with the Mexican silver registration system established in 1979, with the TZ prefix identifying the maker's registration in Taxco. Dimensions: Approximately 0.75 inches in length Weight: 0.207 ozt. Good vintage condition. The sterling silver shows significant tarnish and a dark patina throughout. The turquoise cabochons are securely set and free of visible cracks or significant chips. The silver posts exhibit minor bending consistent with age and previous wear.
