Bidspirit auction | CA 1959 1 Cent, Off-Center

CA 1959 1 Cent, Off-Center Strike Error - This lot features a 1959 Canadian 1-cent coin struck at the Ottawa Mint, exhibiting a significant production error. The coin was struck approximately one-third off-center, resulting in a large crescent-shaped unstruck area on the bronze planchet. The obverse displays the laureate bust of Queen Elizabeth II design, with the visible legend including portions of DEI GRA and REGINA. The reverse shows the maple leaf design, with the date 1959, denomination 1 CENT, and country CANADA partially visible. The planchet is a standard bronze alloy with a plain edge. The coin is housed in a vintage PHIL-COIN CO. cardboard 2x2 flip with handwritten notations and historical pricing information in both Canadian and US currency. About Uncirculated (AU). The coin exhibits original brown surfaces with some remaining mint luster and minimal handling marks. The strike is sharp within the struck area, and the unstruck portion of the planchet shows no post-mint damage.
