Bidspirit auction | US Lincoln Cent with Major

US Lincoln Cent with Major Off-center Strike Error - A US copper-alloy one-cent coin, featuring a significant off-center strike error. Based on the centrally located text on the reverse, the coin is a Lincoln Wheat cent. The strike is positioned at the edge of the planchet, leaving a majority of the surface area blank and unstruck. The obverse displays a partial Lincoln profile and the legend IN GOD WE TRUST. The reverse exhibits a partial strike showing the denomination ONE CENT and the text STATES OF AMERICA. Due to the extreme off-center nature of the strike, the date and mint mark are not present on the planchet. The coin is currently housed in a white cardboard 2x2 flip which bears the handwritten inscription MECHANICALLY DAMAGED. The coin is in circulated condition with an even brown patina. The struck portions show moderate wear consistent with a fine grade. The planchet is heavily distorted and elongated as a result of the striking process.
