A Collection of US Mercury Head Dimes, 1916-1945, in Whitman Folder No. 9014 - A partially complete collection of United States Mercury Head Dimes, minted between 1916 and 1945, presented in a blue Whitman-style coin folder, model No. 9014. Each coin is struck in 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper composition. The collection features the Winged Liberty Head obverse designed by Adolph A. Weinman and a reverse design depicting a fasces with an olive branch. The set includes a mixture of mint marks from Philadelphia, Denver (D), and San Francisco (S). Several slots remain empty, including significant key dates such as the 1916-D and the 1921 issues. The third page of the folder contains handwritten pencil notations regarding potential varieties, including the 1942 overdate and the 1945-S micro S variety, though these have not been professionally verified. The coins are in various circulated conditions, showing wear consistent with age, with grades generally ranging from Good to Very Fine. Several specimens exhibit natural toning. No coins are professionally graded or slabbed. The blue cardboard folder shows typical signs of age and shelf wear, including scuffing to the edges, corners, and spine.
