US 1856-O Seated Liberty Half Dollar - This US Seated Liberty half dollar was struck at the New Orleans Mint in 1856. The specimen features the Seated Liberty obverse and the Heraldic Eagle reverse. The coin is composed of .900 fine silver and features a reeded edge. The O mint mark is positioned on the reverse, centered above the denomination. This issue belongs to the variety without arrows at the date, which was resumed in 1856 after the weight standard changes of 1853-1855. Weight: 0.390 ozt. Circulated, approximately Good to Very Good. Significant, even wear is evident on both sides, with substantial flattening of the central motifs and high points. The date and mint mark remain clear and legible.
