US 1868 Three-Cent Nickel Coin - United States Three-Cent Nickel coin dated 1868. Struck in a copper-nickel alloy at the Philadelphia Mint. This specimen features the Liberty head obverse and the Roman numeral III reverse within a laurel wreath. This coin type was designed by James B. Longacre. KM# 95. The coin shows heavy circulation wear consistent with a Good to Very Good grade. Liberty's hair and coronet details are worn flat, and the legend on the coronet is no longer visible. The reverse wreath leaves are significantly flattened. Toning and dark residue are present in the fields and around lettering. Numerous small surface scratches and contact marks are visible on both faces.
