1858 US Flying Eagle Cent, Large Letters - This 1858 US one cent coin is an example of the Flying Eagle design, which transitioned the United States from large copper cents to smaller, copper-nickel issues. It features the Flying Eagle obverse and Agricultural Wreath reverse. The specimen is the Large Letters variety, distinguished by the connected feet of the letters A and M in AMERICA. The Flying Eagle cent had a brief circulation period, being replaced by the Indian Head cent in 1859. Diameter: 19 mm Weight: 4.67 g. Good. The specimen displays heavy, even wear consistent with long-term circulation. The central motifs on both sides are largely flat, but the date and primary inscriptions are fully legible. The surfaces have a mottled grey and brown patina with typical circulation marks and light pitting.
