1922 US Peace Silver Dollar - This US 1922 Peace silver dollar was struck at the Philadelphia mint and is composed of 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper. The obverse features the Peace Dollar design by Anthony de Francisci, including the literal inscriptions LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRVST, and the date 1922. The designer's monogram, AF, is visible under the neck. The reverse displays the standard Peace Dollar eagle motif with inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE DOLLAR, and PEACE. There is no mint mark present on the reverse, identifying the specimen as a Philadelphia mint issue. 1922 was the first year the low-relief design was utilized for mass production of this series. The coin is in heavily circulated condition. Significant wear is present on both the obverse and reverse, with flattened details on the high points of the hair and feathers. The surfaces exhibit a dull, greyish-silver patina with numerous contact marks, scratches, and a pitted texture throughout.
