Canada King George VI 1-Cent Coin, Full Obverse Brockage Error - This Canadian 1-cent coin features a significant mint error known as a full obverse brockage. The coin was struck during the reign of King George VI, specifically between 1937 and 1947 as indicated by the Latin legend GEORGIVS VI D : G : REX ET IND : IMP : surrounding the monarch's left-facing profile. The reverse side exhibits a mirrored, incuse impression of the obverse design instead of the standard maple leaf motif. This error occurred when a previously struck coin became stuck to the upper die and acted as a die itself, striking the subsequent planchet and creating the sunken, backward image while simultaneously obscuring the date. The coin is composed of bronze and features a plain edge. It is presented in a cardboard 2x2 coin flip with handwritten notations identifying the denomination and the nature of the error. The coin is in circulated condition with heavy overall wear consistent with the grade of Good to Very Good. The surfaces display a dark brown patina, numerous contact marks, and significant smoothing to the high points of the portrait on both the relief and incuse sides. The legends remain legible.
