Bidspirit auction | 1953 CA 1 Cent Queen
1953 CA 1 Cent Queen Elizabeth II, Struck on Partial Planchet Error - 1953 CA bronze one cent coin. The obverse features the laureate portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, Shoulder Fold variety. The reverse features the maple leaf design. This specimen is a significant mint error, struck on an incomplete planchet. Approximately one-quarter of the metal is missing from the upper left edge from the obverse perspective. The strike is well-centered on the available planchet material. Inscriptions on the obverse read ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA. Inscriptions on the reverse read 1 CENT 1953 CANADA. The coin is presented in a vintage 2x2 cardboard holder with handwritten identification. Very fine. The coin displays consistent brown surfaces with light wear on the higher relief areas of the portrait and maple leaves. The edge of the partial planchet shows characteristic metal flow and rounding from the striking process, confirming its authenticity as a mint error. No signs of cleaning or environmental damage are present.
