1961 CA 1 Cent Major Mint Error Struck Off-Center on Un-Upset Planchet - This 1961 CA 1-cent bronze coin is a significant mint error struck on an oversized, un-upset planchet, resulting in a broadstruck appearance without a raised rim. The coin was struck outside of the collar, causing the planchet to expand beyond its standard diameter. The strike is approximately 15 to 20 percent off-center toward the bottom-left of the reverse design, leaving a wide, unstruck crescent on the opposite side. The obverse features the laureate effigy of Queen Elizabeth II with the Latin legend ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA. The reverse displays the maple leaf design by George Kruger-Gray, including his initials KG, the date 1961, and the denomination 1 CENT. The piece is housed in a vintage cardboard 2x2 holder with handwritten notations identifying it as an oversized, off-center strike on a first-stage planchet. Choice uncirculated condition exhibiting original red-brown luster. The surfaces show minor contact marks and areas of natural dark toning. The planchet shows characteristic distortion from a collarless strike. No evidence of cleaning or post-mint damage.
