Bank of Canada 1954 Devil Face Five Dollar Banknote Beattie-Coyne Signatures - This Bank of Canada five dollar banknote is part of the 1954 series. The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the right side, showcasing the original engraving detail in the hair commonly referred to by collectors as the Devil's Face variety. The central portion displays the denomination 5 and the text FIVE DOLLARS / CINQ DOLLARS. It bears the red serial number G/C 7025960 and the printed signatures of Deputy Governor J.R. Beattie and Governor J.E. Coyne. The reverse features a blue landscape vignette depicting a river with a waterfall surrounded by evergreen trees, titled BANK OF CANADA - BANQUE DU CANADA. The note was printed by the British American Bank Note Company Limited. The color scheme utilizes blue and charcoal ink on light paper. The banknote is in About Uncirculated condition. The paper remains generally crisp and bright with no evidence of heavy vertical or horizontal center folds. Margins are well-centered. A small brownish stain is visible on the bottom edge of the reverse margin. There are no visible tears, pinholes, or ink marks.
