US 1842 Braided Hair Large Cent - This US 1842 Braided Hair Large Cent is struck in copper at the Philadelphia Mint. The coin features the Braided Hair obverse design type and the laurel wreath reverse. Based on the size and positioning of the date numerals, this specimen corresponds to the Large Date variety. The coin has a plain edge and does not bear a mint mark, which is characteristic of Philadelphia production for this series. Circulated condition with wear patterns consistent with a grade of Fine. Softened details are observed on the hair, coronet, and reverse foliage. The surfaces exhibit dark, mottled toning and notable green verdigris deposits on both sides, particularly across the obverse portrait and within the reverse wreath. Environmental oxidation and minor surface pitting are present.
