Two Items: Germany Weimar Republic 50 Pfennig Off-Center Strike Error Coin and Mainz Ephemera - This lot consists of two items: a German Weimar Republic 50 Pfennig coin featuring a significant mint error and a related vintage paper slip. The coin is the national issue (KM# 27) struck in aluminum between 1919 and 1922. It exhibits a major off-center strike error, leaving approximately 40 percent of the planchet unstruck. The struck portion of the obverse displays a partial central numeral 50 and the lower segments of the Fraktur script DEUTSCHES REICH. The reverse features a bundle of wheat stalks above the Fraktur motto Sich regen bringt Segen (Effort brings blessings). The date and mint mark are not visible on the struck section of the planchet. Accompanying the coin is a translucent, yellowed paper slip from Briefmarken-Loersch, a philatelic specialty shop formerly located at Grosse Bleiche 39 in Mainz, Germany. The slip includes the shop's telephone number, RUF 3 20 87, and inscriptions in German identifying it as the oldest specialty shop in Mainz (DAS ALTESTE MAINZER SPEZIALGESCHÄFT) and noting it had been in business for 30 years (SEIT 30 JAHREN) at the time of the slip's printing. The coin is in circulated condition with moderate wear on the struck design elements. Surfaces show typical aluminum graying and scattered fine scratches. The off-center strike is well-defined. The accompanying paper ephemera is fragile and significantly yellowed with age, showing multiple fold creases and small tears along the edges and corners.
