1854 CA Bank of Upper Canada One Penny Copper Token with Full Obverse Brockage Error - This 1854 copper one penny token was issued by the Bank of Upper Canada and displays a major minting error. The obverse features the St. George and Dragon design with the legend BANK OF UPPER CANADA and the date 1854. The reverse exhibits a full obverse brockage, consisting of a mirrored, incuse impression of the obverse die instead of the standard coat of arms. The piece is housed in a vintage 2x2 cardboard and plastic flip with handwritten blue ink notations identifying the date, issuer, denomination, and labeling the error as an incuse strike. This type of error occurs when a struck coin remains stuck to the die and impresses its image into the next planchet. Circulated. The coin displays moderate to heavy wear consistent with a grade of Good to Very Good. Surfaces feature a dark chocolate-brown patina with scattered marks, small scratches, and minor pitting.
