1955 Canada 1 Cent Off-Center Strike Error Coin - A 1955 Canadian 1-cent copper coin featuring a prominent off-center strike mint error. The obverse depicts the laureate effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, surrounded by the legend ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA. The flared serifs of the legend identify this as the Shoulder Fold variety. The reverse features the twin maple leaf design by George Kruger-Gray with inscriptions for the denomination 1 CENT, the date 1955, and the country CANADA, along with the designer initials KG. The planchet was misaligned during the minting process, resulting in an off-center strike shifted toward the 5 o'clock position. This misalignment creates a significant crescent of blank copper planchet along the upper-left rim and a corresponding loss of the beaded border on the lower-right edge. The coin is presented in a vintage cardboard and plastic flip with handwritten notations identifying the date, denomination, and error type. The coin appears to be in brown uncirculated condition, retaining a deep brown patina with flashes of original mint luster in protected areas of the design. Surfaces are well-preserved with no significant marks or heavy circulation wear. The vintage holder exhibits minor foxing and surface rust on the metal staples.
