1957 CA Silver 10 Cents Off-Center Strike Mint Error - This 1957 Royal CA Mint 10-cent coin is a silver mint error specimen featuring a major off-center strike. The obverse presents the laureate portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the legend ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA. The reverse shows the Bluenose schooner design with the date 1957 and denomination 10 CENTS. The strike is significantly shifted towards the 5 o'clock position on the reverse, resulting in a prominent crescent of unstruck planchet along the upper rim and loss of the peripheral denticles on that side. The coin is composed of 80% silver. It is housed in a vintage 2x2 cardboard and Mylar holder with ink and pencil notations on the reverse detailing a past trade involving collector Nick Myschuk and various other coins including a 1907-H cent. Major off-center strikes on silver-era Canadian coinage are significantly scarcer than similar errors on later base-metal issues. Uncirculated. The coin retains sharp details and original mint luster with attractive golden-brown toning across both surfaces. Typical light surface marks are present for a high-grade specimen. The vintage cardboard holder shows age-related foxing and light oxidation on the staples.
