Bidspirit auction | CA 1959 1 Cent, Thin
CA 1959 1 Cent, Thin Planchet Error Variety - This 1959 CA bronze cent is an error variety struck on a thin planchet. The obverse features the Elizabeth II laureate portrait with the legend ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA. The reverse displays the maple leaves design with the inscriptions 1 CENT, CANADA, and the date 1959. A thin planchet error occurs during the strip-rolling process at the mint, resulting in a coin that is thinner and lighter than official specifications. The coin is presented in a vintage 2x2 cardboard and Mylar flip with the handwritten ink notation 1959 THIN PLANCHET and a blue rectangular mark on the front. Diameter: 19.05 mm Composition: Bronze. Uncirculated. The coin retains full original red mint luster with sharp details throughout the design. Surfaces appear clean of significant contact marks or environmental spotting. The cardboard flip shows typical age-related toning and shelf wear.
