CA 1961 5-Cent Nickel Flipped Double Strike 60% Off-Center Error - This CA 1961 5-cent nickel is a major mint error featuring a flipped double strike approximately 60% off-center. Composed of nickel, the coin was struck at the Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa. The initial strike is on-center and exhibits the laureate bust obverse and the beaver reverse. The secondary strike occurred after the planchet was flipped and shifted, resulting in an approximately 60% off-center strike. The obverse side shows the primary laureate bust with a partial secondary strike of the date 1961 and the word CANADA from the reverse die. The reverse side shows the primary beaver design with a partial secondary strike of the word REGINA from the obverse die. The coin features a plain edge and clear visibility of the date and legends from both strikes. It is housed in a vintage cardboard 2x2 flip with various handwritten notations in blue ink and pencil including 1961 - 5c CANADA, DOUBLE (FLIPPED) STRUCK, 2ND STRIKE 60% OFF-CENTER, and PAUL'S COINS. High state of preservation, appearing uncirculated with full original mint luster. Surfaces exhibit minimal contact marks. The vintage cardboard flip shows light toning and typical wear around the staples.
