1962 Canada 1 Cent Bronze Coin with Reverse Rim Cud Mint Error - This 1962 Canadian 1 cent coin is struck in bronze and features a significant reverse rim cud mint error. The obverse displays the laureate portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the legend ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA. The reverse design features two maple leaves on a single sprig, the denomination 1 CENT, the issuer name CANADA, and the date 1962. Small designer initials KG for George Kruger Gray are visible near the base of the stems. A prominent die break, or cud error, is located on the reverse rim at the approximately 4 o'clock position, partially obscuring the base of the letter A in CANADA. The coin is presented in a vintage 2x2-inch gold-colored cardboard and plastic flip holder. This laureate portrait was the first used on the coinage of Queen Elizabeth II. Diameter: 19.05 mm Weight: 3.24 g Composition: Bronze (98 percent copper, 0.5 percent tin, 1.5 percent zinc). Uncirculated. The coin retains much of its original copper-orange luster, though it exhibits uneven toning and dark surface spotting, particularly on the obverse. Strike details remain sharp and well-defined. The vintage cardboard holder shows signs of wear and the staples exhibit surface rust.
