US 1884 Morgan Silver Dollar - A US 1884 Morgan silver dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint. The coin is composed of 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper. The obverse features the George T. Morgan design of Liberty facing left, wearing a Phrygian cap with the word LIBERTY on the band, surrounded by thirteen stars and the legend E PLURIBUS UNUM. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle with outstretched wings clutching an olive branch and arrows, with the Gothic motto In God We Trust above. The inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DOLLAR frame the central design. This common date issue had a total mintage of 14,070,000. Weight: 0.860 ozt (26.75 grams) Diameter: 38.1 mm. The coin shows circulation wear consistent with an extremely fine details grade, with smoothing visible on the high points of the hair and eagle's breast feathers. The surfaces have been cleaned, evidenced by numerous fine hairline scratches across the fields. Light golden-brown toning is present around the periphery of both sides. The reeded edge is well-preserved.
