Lionel No. 2465 Sunoco Tank Car with Original Box - A vintage Lionel No. 2465 Sunoco Tank Car, produced by The Lionel Corporation during the post-war era. This O-gauge model train freight car features a silver-painted plastic two-dome tank body secured to a black stamped metal chassis. The car is equipped with die-cast metal trucks, metal wheels, and functional knuckle couplers. One side of the tank features a yellow and blue diamond-shaped decal with the text SUNOCO and CAPACITY 8000 GALS. The reverse side bears two decals, including a circled L logo with BUILT BY LIONEL and a larger decal listing technical specifications such as U. S. SAFETY APPLIANCE STANDARD and TESTED 3-23-28 PRESSURE 75 LBS AT MARCUS HOOK PA. BY SUN OIL CO. TANK. The metal chassis is embossed with the number 2465 on the underside. The car is accompanied by its original orange, blue, and white Lionel box, which identifies the piece as No. 2465 TANK CAR LIONEL on the end flaps and lists the manufacturer as THE LIONEL CORPORATION. The tank car appears complete with all trucks and couplers intact. The silver paint on the plastic body shows surface dust and small areas of localized grime. Decals are present but exhibit age-related yellowing and some wear at the edges. The black metal chassis shows minor surface oxidation and light wear from use. The original cardboard box shows significant vintage wear, including creasing, surface abrasions, and tearing, particularly on the end flaps.
